This HEIC converter is built for anyone with iPhone or iPad photos they cannot open elsewhere. Drop your HEIC files below and turn them into JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF, all in your browser and without creating an account.
Convert HEIC to JPG
Add your HEIC files, check the settings and download them as JPG. Batch conversion, no sign-up and no watermark.
What is HEIC and why does Apple use it?
HEIC, short for High Efficiency Image Container, is the default photo format on modern iPhones and iPads. It stores a picture in roughly half the space many older formats need, so your phone holds more photos. The downside is compatibility: many Windows computers, older Android apps, web uploaders and print services do not accept it without extra software. A converter closes that gap.
Pick the right output format
| If you want to | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Share or upload photos anywhere | JPG | Works on practically every device and site |
| Edit without extra compression | PNG | Lossless and supports transparency |
| Send photos as a document or receipt | One file that opens the same everywhere | |
| Publish on a website | WebP | Small files that load quickly |
Use HEIC to JPG for most everyday needs. The other conversions on this hub, including HEIC to PNG, HEIC to PDF and HEIC to WebP, follow the same steps.
Convert in four steps
- Add your photos by drag and drop or “Choose files”.
- Select an output format under “Convert to”.
- Adjust “Quality” and “Max width (optional)” if you want smaller files.
- Download each result or all at once with “Download all (ZIP)”.
Can you avoid HEIC altogether?
Yes. On an iPhone open Settings, Camera, Formats, then choose “Most Compatible” and new photos will be saved as JPG. The trade-off is larger files and less storage left on the phone. Many people keep the default and convert only when needed.
Photos stay on your device
HEIC conversion runs inside your browser, so your personal photos are not uploaded to our server. The tool is free to use, supports batches and adds no watermark.
Tips for converting an entire camera roll
- Export photos from your phone to a computer first, then convert them in batches.
- Live Photos are saved as a single still image, so the motion part is not kept.
- Use a quality of 85 to 90 for photos you want to keep, and lower values for email.
- Rename the ZIP contents by date if you plan to archive them.
Common HEIC problems and how to solve them
Windows says it cannot open the photo
Windows needs extra codecs to read HEIC. Converting the photo to JPG removes the need for them, and the result opens in any app.
A website will not accept my upload
Many upload forms accept only JPG or PNG. Convert the HEIC file first, then upload the new copy.
Photos look different after export
HEIC can store wider color information than JPG. Small shifts in color are possible, so view the JPG on the device where it will be used.
Which conversion page should I open?
Each conversion page on this site is written for one specific task. Start with HEIC to JPG if you need a universal photo. Choose a PNG output when you plan to retouch the image, a PDF when you need to submit pictures as a document, and WebP when the picture is going on a website. The converter above also works for all of them, because you can switch the output format under Convert to.
Storage, size and speed
JPG files are bigger than HEIC, so converting a whole camera roll can use a lot of disk space. Convert only what you need, or reduce the size with Max width (optional). If you are on a slow device, work in smaller batches of a few dozen photos.

What is a HEIC file?
It is an image format used by Apple devices that gives good quality at a small size. It is not supported by every program.
Is HEIC the same as HEIF?
They are related. HEIF is the standard, and HEIC is the file type commonly used by iPhones for photos.
Will converting reduce photo quality?
Converting to a lossy format like JPG can cause a very small change. PNG keeps the full pixel data.
Can I convert on Windows or Android?
Yes. Any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Android or iOS can use the converter.
Is it free?
Yes, with no registration and no watermark.
