Why TIFF files are so big
TIFF is designed for quality and long-term storage. It can be uncompressed or use lossless compression, holds high color depth, and can contain several pages in one file. That makes it excellent for archives and printing, but a single scanned page can be tens of megabytes.
How to convert TIFF to JPG

Keep an archive copy
JPG discards some information to save space. Keep the original TIFF if the scan is important, such as a historic photo or a legal document, and use JPG only for sharing copies. Choose a high quality value for scans you may print again.

TIFF can use color profiles that some viewers handle differently. Compare in another viewer before assuming a problem.
Only the first page appears
Open the ZIP. Each page is saved as its own JPG.
The JPG is still large
Reduce “Max width (optional)” or lower quality. Scans at 600 dpi often have more pixels than a screen needs.
