CR2 to JPG Converter – Free & Fast

CR2 is the RAW format of many older Canon EOS cameras, and almost nothing outside Canon software and RAW editors can open it. This CR2 to JPG converter turns Canon RAW files into JPG pictures you can view, share and upload.

Convert CR2 to JPG

Add your CR2 files, check the settings and download them as JPG. Batch conversion, no sign-up and no watermark.

About Canon CR2 files

CR2 (Canon RAW version 2) files were produced by many EOS DSLRs and some PowerShot models before Canon moved newer cameras to CR3. They hold the full sensor data, so they are much larger than the JPG a camera would save, and Windows or macOS may not show a preview without extra codecs.

Convert CR2 to JPG

  1. Add your CR2 files with drag and drop or “Choose files”.
  2. Keep JPG selected under “Convert to”.
  3. Set “Quality” around 90 and use “Max width (optional)” for web-size copies.
  4. Wait for the server to finish and download the JPG.

Server conversion

CR2 files are processed on the server. Your file is uploaded, converted and deleted immediately after conversion. A typical CR2 is tens of megabytes, so uploading takes a while on a slow connection.

What conversion does not do

The converter uses default processing. It will not recover the exact look of your in-camera Picture Style or your Digital Photo Professional edits. For careful color and exposure control, develop the file in a RAW editor and export JPG from there.

Practical tips

  • Always keep the original CR2 files as your negatives.
  • Check one image before converting a big shoot.
  • Reduce width for web galleries and social media.
  • If you have CR3 files from a newer Canon, use CR3 to JPG.

Troubleshooting

The conversion fails

Very large files may exceed the server limit. Try one file at a time.

Colors look flat

Default processing is neutral. Adjust the JPG or develop the RAW yourself.

The upload is slow

RAW files are big. Wait for the upload to finish.
